After a nearly ten year career as member of the Barnstable Police K-9 Unit, K-9 Elvis has served his last watch at the end of July.
ELvis recently retired after enjoying an amazing career that any police officer would be proud of. From day one, Elvis was a no nonsense K-9 performing admirably throughout his career.
Elvis has tracked down and apprehended dozens of criminals wanted for a wide variety of crimes; drug dealers, bank robbers, domestic abusers, burglars, and homicide suspects including one now serving life in prison. He has been instrumental in locating stolen merchandise, evidence and weapons tossed or stashed by suspects.
In addition to apprehending criminals Elvis has tracked and located lost children, endangered senior citizens, suicidal people and other endangered persons likely saving many lives. On April 15, 2013 K-9 Elvis and Ptl. Jeffrey Jackson were called to Boston along with Regional SWAT teams to help track down the Marathon Bombing Suspects.
